How has Madibaz Radio / MadibazNews shaped and assisted you in your career now?: Madibaz Radio played a foundational role in shaping both my confidence and career direction in the media and communications space. I was exposed to real-world broadcasting, content production, and newsroom leadership responsibilities from early on. I currently lead the marketing and communications team at a high-tech incubation hub in the Eastern Cape. Part of my job is writing press releases, running marketing campaigns, and providing marketing support to startups.
What were the benefits of being part of Madibaz Radio or MadibazNews?: Hands-on media training, professional exposure, creative freedom and understanding of media dynamics. Madibaz Radio definitely fueled my leadership skills both in peer-to-peer leadership and leading projects.
What would you like to share with the students currently working at Madibaz Radio / MadibazNews?: Be curious and keep learning, you never know where it will lead. I started as a news compiler and eventually became Head of News & Current Affairs. Along the way, I read news, produced shows, presented, helped with events, and even contributed to marketing campaigns. All of this happened because I was willing to step in, ask questions, and learn from those around me. Madibaz Radio is full of opportunity, make the most of it!
